Telehealth Counseling sessions are similar to in-person sessions with your therapist, but instead of coming into the office, you and your counselor meet in a comfortable (confidential) place of your choosing, using interactive audio and video technology.
Virtual visits with your counselor are HIPAA compliant, in order to protect your privacy and confidentiality.
There is no additional cost to you – your insurance company will cover the sessions the same way, and you can use your computer, tablet or smartphone with high quality internet access. Clients participate in sessions from home or from any confidential location determined appropriate by the client and their therapist.
While being in a room with your therapist is often the best option, there are times where telehealth is ideal: You reduce time away from work and home by removing the drive to and from the office; you can meet from a (confidential) space of your choosing; you don’t miss a session if you are not feeling well enough to visit the office.
Although we use doxy.me, Zoom for Healthcare, and Sessions through Psychology Today for HIPAA-complaince and security, in many ways, telehealth is very similar to video chatting with your friends or family through FaceTime or Facebook messenger. If you have done that before, you can easily make the switch to telehealth. We will help you get connected the first time by sending you a link to a virtual waiting room. Just login at your designated appointment time, which will take you to a virtual waiting room, type in your name, then your therapist will connect with you.
